The title of this exhibition "Living" references various forms of life, creation, growth, all of those on contrary to death. This exhibition features works by 9 contemporary artists who all investigate the meaning of "living" nowadays. Miyako Ishiuchi works with images of human figures as entities to hold history. Keizaburo Okamura paints his imaginative deformed creatures. Taiyo Kimura humorously depicts human physiology. Takanobu Kobayashi's works are a nihilistic portrayal of the inner world of human beings. Yoshitake Shimizu creates organic drawings consisting of detailed layers of lines. Katsura Funakoshi makes figurative sculptures that look naively at the world around them. Naoko Motojima's pencil drawings and objects remind one of a kind life source. Kenji Yanobe's works are themed on "recreation", with a hint of subcultural imagery. In commemoration to the opening of this museum, through the artists' various approaches in defining the meaning of "life",
this exhibition aims to face up to current social uncertainties.

Artist's Talks are scheduled on weekends. Please visit the museum website for details (Japanese only).
