Katsu Kimura
In Japanese, the word “Toi” has the meaning "question" (from "toikakeru") and "toy". A pioneer in packaging design, Kimura uses lively, rhythmical designs to create his own unique world. In this exhibition, his second at the ggg following the Katsu Kimura Package Direction Exhibition in 1988, visitors are greeted by Snoopy at the entrance. New experiential works brimming with originality are exhibited on the first floor, including building-block paper, mojimoji (wriggly) art composed of written characters (moji), and moving boxes. The wall of the basement floor is lined with packaging designs for foods, cosmetics, sundries, and other products, including Kimura’s representative works and latest creations. Surrounded by pop-style works that brim with the playful spirit of a child who has just up-ended a toy box, why not return to your own childhood and come and play with Katsu Kimura?

The volume ggg Books 79 — Katsu Kimura will be published in conjunction with the exhibition.
