"Paintings and Drawings from Kuroda Memorial Hall" Exhibition

Tokyo National Museum
Finished

Artists

Seiki Kuroda
This thematic exhibition is being held in commemoration of the merger of the National Museum and the Research Institute of Cultural Properties.

Originally established in 1930 as the Imperial Art Academy's Institute of Art Research at the Kuroda Memorial Hall, the Research Institute of Cultural Properties conducted scientific art research and collected research materials. The Kuroda Memorial Hall was built in 1928 in memory of Seiki Kuroda (1866-1924), a Western style painter and professor at Tokyo Art School (present National University of Fine Arts and Music). Works that Kuroda donated to the government via his will are exhibited in the Kuroda Memorial Gallery on the second floor of the Hall.

This display features 14 oil paintings, including his representative work, Lakeside, and 8 sketches and it is hoped that it will provide people with greater opportunity to see Kuroda's works.
