Nguyen Dinh Dang
Born in 1958 in Hanoi, Vietnam, Nguyen Dinh Dang spent his childhood in the north of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After finishing high school in Vietnam, he went to Russia to study at Moscow State University where he earned a PhD and a Russian Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Sciences. In 1994 he moved with his family to Japan where he is currently working as a nuclear physicist at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) in Saitama.

Self-taught in fine arts, Nguyen Dinh Dang became a member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association in 1987 of Shutai Bijutsu Kyokai in Tokyo in 2005.

His paintings were awarded the title "Fine-Work Artist" twice by Shutai Bijutsu Kyokai and the Sompo Japan Fine-Art Foundation's prize in 2007. He was also honored with the medal "For the cause of Vietnamese Fine-Arts" by the Vietnam Fine-Arts Association in 2004.

This solo exhibition, his sixth in Japan, is held by the invitation of the H.A.C. Gallery and consists of selected oil paintings he created after coming to Japan, including his most recent large-size compositions.
