Ten exhibitors whose portfolios have passed the first screening of the yearly Hitotsubo Competition will each be exhibiting in a "hitotsubo" space, a Japanese measurement for a space of 3.3m square (1.82m x 1.82m). The first place winner, chosen during this exhibition, will be offered a solo exhibition at the Guardian Garden next year.
Works include a painting that emerged from sandwiching paint between two pieces of glass, a self portrait in which the artist dons an original crown made for the creator the artist respects, a work born from an artist's obsession with food.

The grand prize winner will be decided at the second stage of judging, after a presentation and a debate by five judges.
