Reviews
This exhibition is a difficult one. When you release a small horde of designers with an open brief to create a mini-book, one would think that the first thing they would shoot for is to get some content to go inside those books. Unfortunately, all of the books rely on style alone to try to drive them. What writing is there is minimal or abstract/poetic/ungrounded. It really is too bad- they are all nice items, and it makes for an ebullient, yet lite collection. Advice to the TDC: next time you do something like this (and don't wait 20 years!), provide content/copy for these folks to work with- a collection of short stories or something to conceptually hang it all on. Advice to the designers: Next time, try a little harder. Form PLUS substance, folks...
