"Japan & Hong Kong Exchange Project 'Strangers'" is being organized by artists, curators and alternative spaces from both countries to stimulate cultural exchange on a grassroots level. Projects are being held in both countries, with each country taking in four artists for about a month. A month is quite a short period of time for artists to become familiar with local culture, and yet they have to practice art making and exhibit as strangers. However, such circumstances influence these artists' points of view. Through miscommunication and misunderstanding, cultural differences are revealed - sometimes humorously - and eventually lead to mutual understanding.
