Needless to say, various forms of self-portraits have been created throughout the course of art history. As is discussed in the book, "An Art History of the Self-portrait" (Ed. Atsushi Miura, Tokyo National University, 2003), self-portraits deal with particular, significant issues surrounding self-expression. Satoko Nachi's paintings can be categorized under a form of self-reflection. However, specifically speaking, her portraits are not merely a series of depictions of her everyday life. Speaking of her work in the context of literature, her work is similar to the style of Bildungsroman -- "a novel of self-cultivation," rather than that of a first-person narrated novel or psychological novel. Like Frida Kahlo, Nachi stares deep into herself, but rather than speaking out her pure emotions, her self-identity stands in conjunction with the significance of her male partner. In other words, not merely looking at herself objectively, she emphasizes creating an "objective viewpoint" on her self-identity. In Japan, not too many artists work in the genre of "self-portraiture," which makes her a rare figure in the contemporary art scene.

もんのすごいながーーーーーーくて大きくて迫力がありました。

水族館で、でかい魚を間近でみたときの、チカラが吸われてく感じにも似てます。吸われるがままにみつめてしまいました。よかったです。

《天井の下》ぽーっと15分ぐらい眺めてました。
(BGMはショパン:幻想即興曲(即興曲第4番嬰ハ短調 作品66)
名知聡子さん素敵です。
松井えり菜「エビチリ大好き」 以来の衝撃でした。

『天井の下』素晴らしいです。
1枚の絵が池田満寿夫の生涯を完全に吹き飛ばしちゃいました。
アートギャラリーも残酷なことをするなぁと感心しました。
案内の人が、名知聡子という名でなく「新人の作品です」と案内していたことを考えるとキュレーターの評価が低い方へ見込み違いしてるんじゃないかとも思いましたね。
名知聡子、今後に期待です。
