Andon, Chochin, Nezumi Tankei, and Zashiki lamp -- these are all different kinds of traditional Japanese lanterns invented for different purposes. This exhibition mainly features various kinds of lanterns from the Tsujimoto collection at the historical museum in Ando-cho in Nara, as well as artworks dealing with concepts of light. Highlighting the beautiful forms and craftsmanship of the tradition, the museum presents the diverse light sources developed in Japan.
