Sho Kidokoro Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Hachiouji-shi Yume Museum
Media: Prints, Art Talk
This is the first large-scale retrospective exhibition of this printmaking artist Sho Kidokoro from Hachioji City, who unfortunately passed away in 1988. He is well known for his powerful yet delicate style that can be seen throughout his works, from the abstract prints to still life pieces. He is especially acclaimed for his cross grain woodblock prints, represented in works such as the "Green Apple" series. Upon one glance, the apple looks as if floating about freely, but the bright red background adds tension to the surface, balancing the movement of the apple. This type of spatial impression that stops time gradually leads the viewer into a tranquil world. 170 pieces including early works and abstract works will be on display.
Please see museum's website for related events.
