Shigeo Fukuda
This is the 27th installment of the Time Tunnel series of exhibitions featuring top creators in various fields, featuring leading Japanese graphic designer Shigeo Fukuda. Fukuda is known for his humorous posters and public art pieces, environmental design, toys, picture books and more, transcending staid and static conceptions of what designers do.
After a childhood spend absorbed in comics and yearning to become a manga artist, Fukuda saw the Graphic '55 exhibition while in college, an event that became an inspiration for him to enter the world of graphic design. After that, Fukuda met Bruno Munari, became influenced by the "philosophy of play" in design, and developed his own bag of visual tricks and array of unique design methodologies.
This exhibition introduces Fukuda's work over two venues, covering his debut period right up to his current output.
