The wall rising upright in front of us and the horizontal expanse of the ground under our feet are the two "planes" that comprise the foundation of our perception of the world. How have these "planes" been represented in the artistic "plane" embodied in paintings, photographs and prints? This exhibition attempts to examine, from the perspective of "the wall and the ground," pieces mainly from our collection, including those by Jean Dubuffet, Yuzo Saeki and Taiji Matsue.
