Artists

Takuma Uematsu
Uematsu uses stuffed animals, gemstones and images of plant to create his work. The unusual combination of various objects offers visual resistance and stimuli for the imagination. Wild boar and swans, deer and coral: these hybrid animals take on a deformed existence thanks to the artist, presented as symbols of all living things. Uematsu successfully visualizes this yearning and reverence for life itself, as well as the instability of the material existence of the body.
The animals and plants from Uematsu’s world will be presented in a white tabletop "diorama" at this exhibition. Uematsu describes his work with the words “crystal” and “link”, and he calls this installation a "clustered, woven white coral reef." The existence and form of individual pieces lose their importance, and the boundaries between them become ambiguous in this condensed setting.
