Tokyo Wonder Site Hongo is pleased to be hosting "Imaginary Museum of the O Collection - Magical Museum Tour Room 5 Chiezo Taro: Post Human Artist".
This exhibition, the continuation of a series launched last year, is composed of works from the Satoshi Okada Collection. Our aim is to provide a permanent venue for works by emerging Japanese contemporary artists, creating a space similar to a permanent exhibition in an art museum.
On display in this edition is work by Chiezo Taro, who has continuously tackled relationship between human beings and society around them. His work poses viewers the limitation of anthropocentristic thinking method. For me, one of his old friends, Taro is like a mad scientist rather than an artist. He knew from early on that there was a limitation in anthropocentristic way of thinking. With that in mind, he has created eerie work which scoffs at values of human inwardness. The grotesqueness residing in his work reminds us of menacing presence that outstrips human scale, and this presence itself proves an invalidity of anthropocentrism. Taro thus should be recognized as a post-human artist. (Satoshi Okada -Art Acephale representative)
