Artists

Nobuaki Onishi
This Kansai based ceramic artist is known for his life size resin representations of every day things and creatures. His works are characterized by his superb coloring technique. The difference between the work and the actual object is almost indiscernible to the viewer. In his work "Steps" he uses an unusual method of leaving one part of the work unpainted and the resin exposed, leading to a visual that is different from what the viewer expects. He surprises the viewer in this way and forces them to question what is real and what is fake. In 2007 this artist incorporated brand new themes into his work, creating trees, wave-breaking blocks and butterflies. This is his first exhibition in Tokyo.
