Junko Ishiro Exhibition

Dai-ichi Life Gallery
Finished

Artists

Junko Ishiro
This solo exhibition is by Junko Ishiro, a recipient of the encouragement award at the VOCA 2005 exhibition. There are two works taking landscape as their motif. One is a project to burn the painting, and the other has a surface that has been partially covered by tape, an oil painting lacking an image, called "Masking."
Ishiro has previously concentrated on masking the traces of human shapes and silhouettes and the refractions of light, but she has attempted in this exhibition to produce this masking effect in a more freestyled manner. Her landscapes seem placid, but one feels as if there is some unnerving second world lurking beneath these scenes of the everyday.
