Yuki Toyama
G/P Gallery specializes in contemporary photography and graphic art. This is Yuki Toyama's solo exhibition, entitled "Sasurai", which means vagrancy in Japanese. Toyama was born in Chiba in 1983, and studied photography at Tokyo Visual Arts. He showed at the 26th Hitotsubo Exhibition, and although he did not win the grand prize, his monochrome silver gelatin prints received much acclaim from critics. While employing traditional photo processes, this young artist successfully captures a sense of the "now".
"Sasurai" consists of photographs Toyama took during his trip to Kyoto a year ago. He photographed Kyoto for six months, and the works were exhibited at Art Zone in Kyoto. This is an even more polished version of the previous exhibition. Toyama's first photo books will be released from two different publishers at the same time, "Borderline 13" from Akaaka Art Publishing, and "Sasurai" from Art Beat Publishers.
