Artists

Manji Inoue
Manji Inoue was born in Arita, where Arita porcelain is made. Experiences such as serving in the army and 26 years of studying ceramics give a stoic quality to his works. This exhibition is his 32nd solo exhibition at this gallery.

"I often talk about this at lectures that I get invited to. Art and craft are different. Art can stand on its own without skills and techniques, but craft always requires techniques. Another thing is that we can "use" craft objects, and we can also enjoy the beauty by looking at them. Execution of form allows us to engage in the beauty."

This exhibition presents around 80 white porcelains by Inoue. Works include plates, vessels, incense burners, and many more objects, presenting Inoue's profound body of work.
