Nobumasa Takahashi
Stunningly illustrated by Nobumasa Takahashi, "Art Space Tokyo" is a guidebook that introduces readers to twelve of the city's most distinctive art spaces. Through interviews with each of these spaces' directors and curators, as well as interviews with other figures in the Tokyo art world, the book delves into the thinking behind the white walls of exhibition spaces.

For this exhibition, Takahashi is showing some of the original black and white illustrations of galleries, museums and portraits of art world figures that were commissioned for the book.

Working from his "Ba-chan House" atelier in Tokyo's Itabashi ward, Nobumasa Takahashi is an artist/illustrator who exhibits internationally. He takes an obsessive, enthusiast approach to working with all kinds of materials, exploring all the different kinds of expressive qualities that he can achieve through the mixing of paint. Every year he holds a solo exhibition based on a unique concept of material that he then develops into a series of artworks. Fond of representational painting, in Japan his style is perceived as "Western" while abroad it is perceived as "Japanese", thus creating a unique blend of both cultures and concepts.
