Yoshiko Seino
Yoshiko Seino captures non-specific scenes with a consistently singular sense of detachment. This was prominently showcased in her previous exhibition at Gallery Koyanagi in 1999, "Emotionla Imprintings," and also in her photography book "The Sign of Life." Trees, buildings, and their surroundings are handled with a careful eye for composition, hinting at something more than a literal interpretation of landscape photography. The works in this exhibition, entitled "A Good Day, Good Time" also reveal her distinctive approach toward photography.
Seino avoids employing obvious narratives or dramatic imagery in her work, instead remaining faithful to her own set of rules and developing her own expressive language. Thirteen years have passed since Seino began her career as a photographer, and it seems that she has reached a point where she has full control over her visual language, able to produce a consistent and powerful series of photographs.
