Taro Okamoto "Challenge"

Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kawasaki
Finished

Artists

Taro Okamoto
In 1948, Taro Okamoto published his art theoretical analysis on antithesis. Tackling all manner of confrontational matters is a way of creating a new form of art which can hold opposing mentalities in one place without compromise. It was his challenge against preexisting art forms. Throughout his life, Okamoto challenged a wide range of things. He devoted himself to his painting and other art forms, art theory, and his life itself, for the sake of art.
This exhibition presents works that visualize these "challenges."
