Hiratsuka Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Kikuji Yamashita, Yo Sugano
This exhibition presents works by two artists who participated in the "Avant-Garde Art Group" established in 1947. Kikuji Yamashita (1919-1986) employed surrealism to depict his own experience of the war and various social conflicts he witnessed during the post-war period. Yo Sugano (1919-1995) also captured his experience of the war through printmaking. This exhibition presents extraordinary pieces by these two artists that tackled fundamental issues surrounding society and human beings.
