Ben Shahn
Marunouchi Gallery is pleased to announce the 3rd exhibition of the American artist, Ben Shahn. This exhibition celebrates the 110th anniversary of Shahn’s birth and presents his unpublished works as a heart of the show.
Shahn was well-known for his artistic activities in realist approach, which he utilized to convey social dialogues as well as to reveal social inconsistency. As much as the contents of his works are important, images that he created have been very influential to the artists from Andy Warhol to many other pop artists and commercial art world.
People might remember the time when Shahn was compared with Piccaso in the 1960s Japan. In recent years, Shahn’s work is receiving less attention, but they have not at all lost their attraction. It is hoped that our fascination for Shahn’s work will be recollected in this exhibition.
