Artists

Kumi Ecchuya
When not working as a farmer in Nagano Prefecture, artist Kumi Ecchuya from time to time visits various countries and works with the local people sharing experiences.

In 2005, Ecchuya collaborated with children in Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia and created a "virtual farm" operated by windmills they created. Her video piece shows them flying in the air using the wind power and working at the farm with robots. The story told in her video as well as photographs shows the significant revolution for the future of agriculture which the windmill brings.
