The 4th edition of this year's TWS Emerging is hosting 3 solo exhibitions: Mayuko Yoshida's "Demoniac", Kyoko Ebata's "The Game-Keeper's Jam Cellar" and Nao Shibuya's "Passage".

"What lies beneath this huge heap of shredded paper is akin to the truth hidden within silence." Mayuko Yoshida captures in her work a certain meaning that gets lost at the very moment that words are uttered. Through her artistic process, she seeks to depict a pre-verbal and pre-lingual wordless state. Her installation work uses Braille to conjure something asleep in silence within our psyche, something that has not yet been replaced by words.

Kyoko Ebata takes photos of elderly people's rooms. She expresses a sense of pathos and the unique beauty found in the personal microcosmos of one's "room", a space that clearly reflects its dweller's interior aspects and way of life.

Nao Shibuya has visualized landscapes where people encounter each other using various media such as collage, paper, photographs, letters, knitted threads, etc. In search of her own method of recording specific places, she executes sketches in which the relationship between things gets expanded, moving beyond the exhibition space, ultimately becoming an "infinite landscape that belongs to nowhere".
