Alicia Bay Laurel "Living on the Earth"
This event has ended.
At Mirai Gallery
Media: Drawing
"Living on the Earth" is a book by Alicia Bay Laurel published in 1970. The book consists of her essays and illustrations, reflecting on a hippy commune life in the 70s, inspiring readers to live by feeling the rhythm of the earth and creating things with your own hands without relying on readymade items.
These simple drawings and handwritten pieces were created almost 40 years ago, and yet they still vividly communicate the artist's rich feelings. The original drawings will be displayed in handcrafted frames made of driftwood. Also presented at this exhibition will be her newly written book which deals with Tokyo as its theme.
This is the second installment of "Living on the Earth," held at Kurkku in Jingumae last May, but this exhibition mainly showcases works that were not shown at the previous exhibition.
