Taikan Yokoyama
Metempsychosis by Taikan Yokoyama (1868-1958), an Important Cultural Property in our collection, will be shown in a specially installed gallery on the first floor. This forty-meter scroll painting rendered in sumi ink depicts the life of water. A water drop that appears in the vapor in the air travels through a river to the sea, where waves form a dragon that rises up into the sky.
