"Picasso: Portrait of Soul" Exhibition

Suntory Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Pablo Picasso
In the Marais district of Paris stands the Musée National Picasso, home to a collection of works most of which Picasso himself owned at the time of his death. Due to renovations at the museum, an international traveling exhibition on an unprecedented scale has been realized. In Japan, numerous masterpieces from this collection will go on show simultaneously at two venues: the National Art Center, Tokyo, and the Suntory Museum of Art.
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was an artist who throughout his lifetime listened to his innermost heart, continually reflecting his own life in his creative endeavors. The countless self-portraits as well as the numerous other works into which he indirectly projected aspects of himself can be said to represent the essence of Picasso's art. At the Suntory Museum of Art, these self-portraits, which could perhaps best be described as outcries of Picasso's soul, and related works will go on display as part of a group of around 60 works centering on oil paintings.

If you bring a ticket or ticket stub for the Picasso exhibition's other venue, the National Art Center, Tokyo, you will receive a 200 yen discount from the regular admission for the Picasso exhibit at the Suntory Museum of Art.
