Is this dance? In her own delicate, poetic world, Honaga carries herself with a sort of intense, yet cute rage. Why is she so frantic and hard-up?
Where does that impulse come from? On the verge of tears one moment, and ready to take anyone on and go down fighting the next. Honaga will give a dance performance that mimics in part the movements of a life-sized tiger. The accompanying music will focus on sonic impressions and reverberations rather than titles on genres, a sort of soundscape painting that gives expression to seasons, scenery, sonic aftershocks. A gentle instrumental sound that slowly eats away at the space, adding color to the installation, creating a dialogue with the movements, sometimes intertwining itself with manic intensity around the dance itself. Costumes have been kindly supplied by Yab-Yum, a design collective that has won many fans for its philosophical creations. These garments, at once unobtrusive and nostalgic, will "dance" along with the performance.
