Yusuke Guji showed us his totally unique perspective through colorful, repetitive images of a house in an exhibition called “Creamy House” in April 2007. He is back with a body of new work called “conpeito” (a kind of traditional Japanese candy). The diorama world is created with rock-like or candy-like 3D and 2D works which contain various images. “It is nothing like my grand outlook on the world...it’s just more of a micro-view of the world,” said Gunji. Just like conpeito has its own unique shape, the world of imagination contained in this diorama began to take shape, and was finally completed, on the table-shaped miniature garden in this exhibition.
