In the 150 years since photography was invented, the medium has become more than just an art form, but also an indispensable part of every aspect of our lives. With the development of digital technologies in recent years especially, photography has acquired an ever-increasing importance.
This exhibition takes a look at the history of the medium throughout the twentieth century, when it saw the greatest development. It also examines the influence of 21st century photographers who have already begun to shape the future of this device and artform. The exhibition explores topics such as the practice of training a camera on one's subject in order to observe it, investigating the essence and meaning of photography, as well as questioning its role in society.

Lecturer: Masakazu Inubushi (professor at Osaka University of Art)
Venue: Talk will be given while walking around viewing the work.
