The Fuchu Art Museum invites artists to work in a studio space inside the museum. Viewers can see how artists make art as well as talk with the artists. (Please note that artists will not be at the museum everyday.)
Architecture, symbolic signs, and human figures are depicted on painter O Jun's (1956-) large white canvases and drawings. These rather minimal sources of visual information stimulate our imagination, giving us fragments of a larger story while making us feel somewhat unsettled by the limitations.
After completing the graduate program at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts & Music, O Jun spent time in Spain and Germany painting. Through his stay at the museum, he plans to use all the mediums he has ever worked with, focusing on what it means to "draw," for him. Works completed through this stay will be exhibited during the final week.
