Masato Moriwaki was born in 1950. After graduating from Tama Art University he became an apprentice to Gensou Okuda. Currently, he lives in Nerima ward and is a nihonga painter affiliated with the Nitten group. Figures in Moriwaki's paintings seem to be questing for a sense of place. This special exhibition features about 15 works that span his early period, while he was a elementary and middle school teacher and had occasion to observe closely his students and adolescent wards, right up until his recent works, which attempt to visualize internal human emotions and a profound sense of human existence itself.
