Mizuhiki is a decorative cord traditionally used for celebrating various events. The tied cord also symbolizes "human relationship." Mizuhiki is currently used for ceremonial occasions, but people used to use them as a small gift for occasional events.
This workshop presented by Yoshinobu Watanabe from Iida, Nagano Prefecture introduces how to create this traditional Mizuhiki and its history. Iida has been known for producing Mizuhiki since the Edo period.
This year's Kyushogatsu (Chinese New Year) is February 7th.
