Having participated in numerous international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale, Boltanski has gained much acclaim worldwide. In Japan, he participated in Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale in 2003 and 2006, attracting much attention for his collaborative installation work with Jean Kalman that utilized a closed school. Boltanski also won the Praemium Imperiale Prize in 2006. Last year, he broke new ground, working for the group exhibition "La Chaine", whose aim was to introduce young artists.
