Nobuyoshi Araki
This solo exhibition by Nobuyoshi Araki, who has won remarkable acclaim abroad in recent years - receiving the Austrian Medal for Science and Art in September 2008 - features around 10 works, large monochrome prints with painting on them. These pieces depict scenes of "kinbaku" (bondage) printed onto large rolls of paper measuring more than 130x160cm, along with "ku" (emptiness) taken from Araki's own balcony. On top of these photos, Araki has added an additional layer of painting using Liquitex acrylic as a kind of trace scuffle with his own photographs, evidence of the artist's strong, vital consciousness of both "sei" (life) and "sei" (sex).
The exhibition catalog containing a total of 18 works, "Koushoku - Painting," will also be on sale.
*The "Arakinema" piece "Ku" will also be screened for the duration of the exhibition.
