Yoshihiko Satoh
Last autumn, Yoshihiko Satoh started a project -- creating a series of sculptures, choosing Honda F1 engine as the motif.

The project, in which the artist's purpose is to create a sculpture by connecting 10 Honda RA273 engines, began with a 1/12 maquette and beautiful, limited-edition CG posters. The main intent of this project is to appreciate and encourage the spirit of product creation, by repeatedly using the aesthetic forms which lie in commercial products and show the passion of the people who are concerned with mechanical products.

This exhibition, titled "Trachea," will be the first real step of the project, which consists of just one sculpture, employing exhaust pipes, the so-called "last combustion chamber."

About "Trachea"

It is no exaggeration to say that the form of the exhaust pipe RA273 is nothing short of the visualized image of Honda's innovative spirit. I think the exhaust pipe's beauty not only comes from a logical consideration of function, but from the hard work and effort of the people who produced it.
I try to refusing their logic, in order to extract only the artistic figure. I believe that doing this is a way to show my respect for such products as a person living nowadays.
