Hotaru-za Caravan was formed by Shintaro Tanaka and the students of his seminar "Palm-size Workshop." They are holding a group exhibition at Honcho Experimental Gallery to present the results of their artistic endeavors. The name of the group derives from the fact that hotaru (firefly) show up often at Tanaka's atelier in Hitachi.
The main theme of the exhibition is "palm-sized". It doesn't literally mean the size of a palm, but rather signifies the size of each creator's work, scaled down to the lower limit. On view are 2D, 3D and video works by 15 artists who interpreted the theme from their respective viewpoints.
