Tsuyoshi Higashijima Exhibition

Dai-ichi Life Gallery
Finished

Artists

Tsuyoshi Higashijima
This exhibition features the work of Tsuyoshi Higashijima, prizewinner at the VOCA '96 exhibition. Higashijima has been creating abstract work rendered in a deep "Higashijima" blue unique to his work - the same haunting hue that featured prominently in his past two exhibitions at Dai-ichi Life. He has pursued a certain consistency in his explorations of painting as a form.
In recent years, a resurgence of rich colors can be seen in Higashijima's work since winning the VOCA prize, as well as a continued interest in the relationship between painting and the space it is displayed in. This solo exhibition sees the return of those overwhelming, large-scale deep blue paintings displayed in the gallery.
