Rikio Koizumi
Musashino Art University Museum & Library is holding a retrospective exhibition of retiring professor Rikio Koizumi, who has been a great educator at the university for a long time.
Koizumi was born into a family of jewelry makers in 1938 in Tokyo. He studied craft in high school and metalwork at Tokyo University of the Arts, while also involving himself in the family business. For 45 years since 1963, Koizumi has been teaching at Musashino Art University, passionately educating many students.
Koizumi also helped to establish the Japan Jewelry Designers Association in 1964, laying the foundations for this organization. He participated in a number of jewelry and craft exhibitions, and received the "Diamonds International Awards" in 1971. Even today he devotes himself to participating in various activities, serving as a jury member for numerous competitions to support the next generation of designers.
This exhibition presents 120 works selected by Koizumi himself, along with the tools he uses in creating them.
