Kaikai Kiki Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Rei Sato starting April 11th. This is Sato's first solo show in Japan. Her photo book "Sun" will also be released for sale on April 14th.
The exhibition includes photographs depicting glimmering landscapes captured in the flicker of an instant, as well as drawings and paintings hastily sketched in a mere 3 seconds. This sense of a hurtling forward is palpable in each of her works, giving audiences a familiar sensation similar to that experienced while careening down a street on a bicycle, a sort of invitation to partake of a free, unbridled experience. In addition to these photographs that have been collected in the "Sun" book, as well as her drawings, the venerable "Chitose Midori" coffeeshop that Sato's parents used to run will be restored to life for a limited period during this exhibition.
