This event has ended.
At Galaxy Countach β
Media: Installation, Product, Video installation, Art Talk
In August, October and December, an art bar in Shinjuku Galaxy Countach is holding a series of exhibitions curated by Emiko Kato.
3 up-and-coming artists exhibiting for this series were all born after 1975, having created works with their aggressive approach while distancing themselves from market-hungry artists. Their works are sprinkled with unique essence of incredulous poignancy and innocence, while their styles and forms convey a wide variety of expressions in which commingled the conceptual, action, performance and process work. It's believed that stimulating artworks on display are all capable of breaking down superficial value of rapidly-globalized art.
By directly facing social contradictions and issues, Hikaru Fujii has expressed through his work the viewpoint of the weak and chasms existing in the social structure. People's latent anxieties and frustrations, as well as distortions seen in global society, are portrayed in his video art, installation and other activities. Fujii is now engaged in the production and research of relations between economy, cultural administration, law and art. As part of this project, he hosts talk event C.U.T. at his own house, sharing information regarding topical incidents and political issues.
In this exhibition, Fujii will attempt to branding protective gear of riot police based on the concept of "Nike Politics". He will give a presentation at Nike Japan, while he will also watch closely the trend of "Nike Park".
