Baba's new work, "Echo", is a mirrored painting that recalls the shape of a door. The half-transparent image formed by the work overlaps with the lace motif, itself translucent, producing a play of appearances. Subtle differences between "this side" and "that side" surrounding the central motif of a passageway or portal are brought to light by the images reflected in the mirrored surface of the work. These interwoven reflections and ambiguous spaces conjured in these 8 works prompt viewers to experience a sense of overlapping, while seeming to infiltrate into these spaces themselves. This exhibition, centering on the two door-themed works, hopes to give viewers a novel visual experience of intersecting lines of sight.
