Miyakawa takes the complex shape of biogeocenosis as his motif and abstracts it to the extreme on his pictorial surface.
After gaining much acclaim in his first solo exhibition in 2007, Miyakawa introduced some works in his hometown Okinawa this spring, exposing himself to urban and rural environments, both of which his artistic inspiration derives from.
On view in this exhibition is a series of new drawings on the theme of "voyage". As ancient people considered the sun and stars as markers upon crossing the ocean, Miyakawa finds present Tokyo as a maker for his artistic voyage.
