A trickle of motifs, and empty white space that stretches out next to them. The blank spaces that seem to be an integral part of Yamazaki's work seem to emphasize the lines and colors around them. As the artist admits about her first solo exhibition, "this show is like a little diversion off the main road."

ソーン･ツリーギャラリーでは2月21日(木)～3月4日(火)までイラストレーター山崎美帆の初個展『SIDE SHOW』を開催する運びとなりました。

ポツリポツリと描かれたモチーフと、余白。
山崎の絵に必ずといっていいほどあらわれる「余白」は、線と色の存在をより強調させています。「余白」に包まれることで浮かび上がる、線を引くことの不思議さや、色を選ぶことの面白さ。そして、それらの一つ一つの行為の集まりが一枚の絵を生み出しているという、当たり前の事実に気付かされるでしょう。

今回の展示のタイトルには「余興」「見世物小屋」「副次的事件」という意味合いが含まれています。本人曰く「ちょっと道をそれたところでやっているショー」という、いい意味で肩の力の抜けた山崎の初個展をどうぞお楽しみ下さい。
