This exhibition by textile designer Manabu Kikuchi features work with dragon motifs that depicts the oxidation process of iron.
After graduating from the textile design department at Bunka Fashion College, Kikuchi apprenticed to Eiji Miyamoto at Miyashin Inc, a textile manufacturer in Hachioji, acquiring expert knowledge and knowhow related to textiles and weaving techniques. Since 1988 he has been working as a textile designer at Issey Miyake Men.
For this exhibition, Kikuchi has adopted dragon motifs in this series of phantasmagoric works to express the instant in which "green" changes to "gold" during the iron oxidation process. This is a prime opportunity to get acquainted with the work of a master artist who visits countries all over the world in an effort to unearth new materials and pioneer new techniques and developments in his field.
