Eiko Hosoe’s unique photographic aesthetic has won high praise internationally for over half a century. His “Embrace” series (1971) has long been regarded as a work which succeeded in extracting the essence of life and creating sophisticated abstractions of human bodies. The series “Ordeal by Roses” (1963) took as its subject the novelist Yukio Mishima. It went on to become one of Hosoe’s best known works as well as one of the most important works in the context of Japan’s postwar history of photography.

From the series “Embrace,” large archival pigment prints are on display at this exhibition. These are the first ever limited edition works by Eiko Hosoe. In addition, platinum palladium prints from the series “Ordeal by Roses" are being exhibited in the Viewing & VIP Room. This exhibition reflects the photographer’s concept of values which had to be changed due to recent changes in photographic technologies, making it a significant turning point for Hosoe.

A limited 1000 copies of the original catalogue will be published, each with a serial number and Hosoe's autograph.
