Moe Furuya
Guardian Garden is holding a graphic art exhibition by Moe Furuya from September 8th. Furuya won the Grand Prix at the 29th graphic art open call "Hitotsubo" exhibition in October last year, and this exhibition features work produced in the year since then.

According to the artist, drawing and painting are not special activities, but rather part of everyday "routine work" like eating and drinking. Obtaining impressions from people she meets or events that occur, Furuya renders these daily experiences and sensations in a plain, unembellished way, using simple lines and color combinations. At first glance, her work appears breezy and fun-loving, but closer inspection reveals faintly grotesque or cynical elements in the faces and bodies that Furuya uses as her motifs. An enormous number of works such as these, produced over the past year, will be displayed on one wall of the gallery.
