TWS-Emerging is part of Tokyo Wonder Site's support program for young artists. It hosts yearly solo exhibitions by noteworthy young artists, selected through a screening process of 100 prize-winning artists from Tokyo Wonder Wall. This year, 19 artists were selected to hold their solo exhibitions as part of the program.

The 2nd installment of the exhibition this year features "Zokuzoku (Shivers)" by HyonGyon and "The Gift" by Yoshinori Takakura. Born in Korea, HyonGyon takes traditional Korean costumes, hair ornaments and long hair as his motifs, constructing from them a muddled portrayal of human interiority. His work provokes shivering sensations originating from feelings of expectation, tension and fear.

Odd forms and multilayered colors - these are modes that Takakura has continuously worked with, such images being metaphors for internal aspects of the human character. Takakura materializes on his canvas forms in which internal desires and external influences blend and commingle with each other, a visual transference of the nature of the human psyche, where sensations of both disgust and comfort often exist in uneasy cohabitation.
