Artists

Chihiro Yoshioka, Noriko Wada
Yuka Sasahara Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of promising young female artists Chihiro Yoshioka and Noriko Wada, starting from 20th December 2008 to 31st January 2009.

Chihiro Yoshioka (b. 1981) presents her oil paintings, tempera paintings and a sculptural work made of cheesecloth. She used clay and pastel to paint this curtain-like piece and small objects are also attached to it. Depending on where it's installed and how it's lit, the piece changes its appearance.

Noriko Wada (b. 1980) displays her oil paintings consisting of wavy colorful brush strokes. "A girl's room" is a repeated theme of her work. In the imaginary room she depicts, a girl is hiding somewhere in a bed or behind a couch. She aims to capture a sense of anxiety which arises as she recalls her childhood memories or out of nowhere in everyday life.
